Shimano Butterfly Flat Fall Jigs
Flat Falls are available in 250, 200, 160,130 and 80-gram weights and are available in 6 colors that can be used in nearly any situation. Our personal favorite has been the “Glow” jig but, all colors have proven to produce well.
The Shimano Butterfly Flat-Fall Jigs are an unbelievably effective vertical jig for many species of offshore and inshore fish. In particular, they have been deadly targeting Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado, Yellowtail, Jacks, Rockfish and much more! In particular, the glow 250, 200 and 160 have been the must-have jig for landing our local Bluefin Tuna.
Shimano Butterfly Falt-Fall Jigs are a totally new concept of the Butterfly jigging technique. When fishing inshore, you can drop the jig down to the bottom, crank it up 30 feet then send it into free spool. Most of the bites will come when the jig is sinking. When fishing for pelagic offshore, drop the jig down just below from where you think the fish are. If it stops, reel fast and set your hook. In the event, you don’t come tight, drop it down again and find back up through the desired depth to draw a strike on the retrieve. You may also draw a strike by putting the jig at the desired depth, jerk the jig and let it fall. Typically, the bite will come on the fall. The center balanced jig falls with a wobbling action in a horizontal position, keeping it in the strike zone longer than the vertical jigs
